Are you tired of having dog’s hair in every part of the house? No available grooming shops near you? Maybe you think that it is too expensive? You are not alone. Most dog owners experience these problems. Life is full of first times, and one of them is cutting your own dog’s hair.

Here are the tools a beginner needs to have when planning to groom a dog’s hair:

  • Water (for showering)
  • Dog Shampoo
  • Towel
  • Blower
  • Small Scissors
  • Medium Scissors
  • Medium Size Comb

Procedure:

  1. Make your dog’s hair soft by giving it a bath. Use a proper dog shampoo that will not make your dog’s skin irritated. After that, dry your dog with a towel then proceed on using the blower to dry it’s hair quickly. When the dog’s hair is completely dried, it is important to comb it first before cutting to eliminate excess hair and clumps.

  1. Now, with grooming your dog with small scissors. Small scissors are for the paws. Remember, do not rush, rushing will make your dog feel anxious and panic causing you to might hurt him. Gently cut the excess hair that grew out your dog’s paw. Note that we used small scissors so you can reach the inner sides of the paws. For the outer part of your dog’s feet, you want to cut it by just following its round shape. Repeat these steps for the rest of the paws left.

  1. Groom the ears, and body using the medium-sized scissors. For grooming the ears, you just want to cut the excess hair around it. Be very careful with this part. Make sure that you can feel or see your dog’s ear and the hair you want to cut. After the ears, proceed on cutting the rest of the excess hair from the body. At the top part, cut in the direction where the hair is grows. It’s up to you if you want to eliminate all the hair and leave your dog bald or just trim it. For grooming the belly, you want to call someone that can lift the dog’s two front legs, by that you will have good access to cut the hair from below the neck down to the private part.

  1. Start from the head and trim the unwanted hairs. You want to do it more gently because it is your dog’s face where there are more sensitive areas like the eyes. In doing the upper side of the eyes it is advisable to call from someone’s help to keep the dog from moving. Do the chin down to the neck last because this part is the easy.

  1. After grooming everything, you want to comb your dog’s hair again to eliminate the small hairs that have been stuck.
